Sasha Opeiko

This series of paintings and drawings translates fragments from Soviet film stills of the 1970s–80s. Each miniature study focuses on blurred, low-resolution background objects—details of set design that implicitly carry fictionalized traces of ideologically driven production of culture.
The works are rendered on found Soviet-era paper, reinforcing the entanglement of image and object and embodying the residual material culture of the period.
